The Third Grade Math and Science block will be implemented through direct instruction, center-based learning, and hands-on activities.
Math Highlights
This year, the students will be working with the enVision Math program. We will briefly review telling time, graphing, addition and subtraction, and then focus on multiplication, division, fractions, and geometry. Students will also spend time using DreamBox in the classroom and the computer lab, and will be expected to spend a set amount of time every week on DreamBox at home as well.

Science Highlights
This year, the students will be learning about plant and animal life cycles, sudden changes to the Earth, sound and heat, forces and motion, and weather. Science will be taught through direct instruction and hands-on activities. Students will learn to ask questions about the world around them, and then develop experiments to find the answers. Science will also include writing, with the expectation that students will be able to explain their findings. Students will also complete a science research project this year.
